Robert Henri (1865-1929) was born in Cincinatti, Ohio. After flirting with Impressionism he wisely moved on and eventually came to be associated with the so-called "ashcan" school of American art, concentrating on capturing the spirit of the big city.His best-known work though is Salome, dating from 1909.
