Frances MacNair MacDonald (1873-1921), along with her sister Margaret, was part of the Glasgow School. She married artist Herbert MacNair while Margaret married Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and all four were closely associated in their artistic endeavours. All worked in various areas of applied art - textiles, design, book illustration etc. The Macdonald sisters were also influenced by the work of the Dutch Symbolist Jan Toorop.
